Glass Cats

I discovered during my first semester of glass blowing how much I enjoy glass sculpture. It started by messing up a simple shape, and then imagining what could be made from that mistake. One day I saw a fish in a hot blob of glass, and soon I began to try to make them intentionally. Now, I start each semester with a new fish in order to track my journey. I feel as if the combination of a blown vessel and then added sculpted bits onto the piece is a great way to practice and see my progress. These fish are from my 2024 Fall semester at SJSU. Note the middle fish, which is actually a useable drinking cup.
